Adjustments panel

Figure 1 shows the Adjustments panel, where you can click on any of the buttons to add an adjustment. The button icons may take a little getting used to at first, but you can also still mouse-down on the Adjustments panel menu to access a named list of adjustments. Note that the Adjustments panel in Photoshop CS6 is now just offers buttons for selecting and adding adjustment layers. The adjustment controls now appear in the new Properties panel in the adjustments controls mode.
